I have included a link that talks about “battlefield brotherhood” and how hard it is to live without it when our soldiers return. What is “battlefield brotherhood?” It is absolute commitment. This is the best quote I have ever read that describes it:
“Until one is committed.”
Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, and always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth; ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:
“That moment one definitely commits oneself, the providence moves to help one that would never otherwise have occurred A whole stream of events-issues from the decision. Raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way.” W.H. Murry
Total commitment is the sword that slays emotional fear and creates the bond of brotherhood, sisterhood and friendship. It can be found anywhere, not just on a battlefield… if you have the courage to pick up the sword.
